Art is what connects us, tears us apart, and describes the human condition. Ever since I was a child, I saw the effects of media on people, governments, and the world. Watching the images of Iraq going up in flames, hearing the songs glorifying military dominance, playing video games reenacting colonialism, and watching the news target minorities every chance they got.
From such an experience, I would always wonder if media and art were so powerful, could they not also be used for good? If such a powerful segregation were possible, shouldn't an equally powerful connection be a possibility as well? Thus, my artistic drive was born. My goal is to make art which connects people, ignores the imaginary walls we build between us, and helps create a world where we celebrate our differences simply as humans. I believe that there is no other field capable of expressing the human condition, and for that reason I wish to continue my lifelong study in this field and develop my abilities as far as I can take them.
The works I create are ones of spirituality and identity. I put my religious faith and my heritage in everything I do, and art is no exception. A life goal of mine is to create art that tells stories we need to hear but unfortunately rarely do. My dream is for my works to be a source of spiritual growth and journey for both audiences and myself.
